About Hubbard Innovation Center Project
Connecting Care for Kids
SBI partnered with Children’s Hospital, and Steelcase to bring the Mammel Innovation Center at Children’s Nebraska to life … a space where innovation meets compassion. Designed to inspire collaboration and creativity, the center helps clinicians develop solutions that make a real difference in children’s lives.
With immersive telehealth technology like “Ocular View,” kids in rural communities can receive care from the comfort of their homes while still feeling fully seen and supported.
This project reflects SBI’s commitment to creating healthcare spaces that nurture both people and ideas, helping families access care, clinicians innovate, and children thrive.
Children's Nebraska, SBI, & Steelcase Innovate to Connect Care for Kids
At Sheppard’s Business Interiors, in partnership with Steelcase, we helped reimagine care at Children’s Nebraska’s Mammel Innovation Center — a space built to inspire, empower, and connect.
From thoughtfully designed spaces that embrace both place and purpose, to immersive experiences that make patients and providers feel closer than ever, every detail matters. For those accessing care from afar, Ocular View brings telehealth to life by creating an experience so real, it feels like you’re in the same room.
It’s more than just furniture. It’s about crafting spaces where every person feels seen, heard, and cared for. Spaces that provide comfort when it’s needed most, spark inspiration when hope feels far away, and foster connection even across distances. Every chair, every table, every thoughtfully designed corner is a part of a larger mission — to help people feel supported, empowered, and encouraged to take the next step in their care journey. Because healing isn’t just about treatment; it’s about feeling safe, understood, and inspired to keep moving forward.

About the Project:
This project that featured unique building elements showcased the partnership between SBI and Steelcase and their ability to execute custom wall solutions. It began with V.I.A. being chosen as the modular wall system thanks to the superior acoustical properties it provides.
The interior included a 45° angle of concrete from the floor and a radiator box that lined the entire office perimeter which provided an exciting and unique challenge. In collaboration with Steelcase and the team at SBI, a cut kit was designed to follow the architectural lines and successfully install the V.I.A. system, resulting in a wall system that appears to have been tailor-made for the space.
